De Oscarnominaties van 2025 zijn op donderdag bekend gemaakt, na meerdere keren te zijn uitgesteld vanwege de bosbranden in Los Angeles. De 97e uitreiking van de Oscars zal op 2 maart plaatsvinden in het Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
Leuk: de uitreiking is voor het eerst live te streamen, via Hulu. Conan O’Brien zal de avond hosten.
Emilia Pérez is de grootste kanshebber van de avond; de film werd genomineerd in maar liefst dertien categorieën, waaronder die van ‘Best Picture’, en Zoe Saldana is genomineerd in de categorie ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’. Babygirl van Halina Reijn greep naast de nominaties.
De grote verrassing is waarschijnlijk The Substance, de body horror en comedyfilm van Coralie Fargeat. De film heeft vier nominaties ontvangen, waaronder eentje voor Demi Moore. Fun fact: de actrice won een Golden Globe voor haar hoofdrol in The Substance en dat was de eerste award die zij in haar hele carrière ontving.
Ook Wicked is genomineerd; zij maken kans op tien Oscars. Actrices Cynthia Erivo en Ariana Grande zijn beiden genomineerd voor hun rollen als Elphaba en Glinda.
