Schrijfster J.K. Rowling staat zondag stil bij een bijzondere mijlpaal. Het is precies 25 jaar geleden dat het eerste Harry Potter-deel in de winkels lag.
“Het was een van de mooiste momenten van mijn leven”, twittert de Britse zondag wanneer ze terugdenkt aan de dag dat ze Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in de boekhandel zag liggen.
De auteur bedankt uitgever Bloomsbury “voor het gokken op een totaal onbekende”.
“Ik had absoluut geen idee wat er zou komen, toen ik met stomheid geslagen in die boekwinkel stond te staren naar mijn naam op de rug van een boek”, aldus Rowling. “Ik wil iedere lezer bedanken die in 1997 aan boord van de Hogwarts Express ging en tot het einde bij Harry bleef. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is het eerste van in totaal zeven boeken over de beroemde tovenaarsleerling. In augustus 1998 verscheen de Nederlandse vertaling en in 2001 werd het boek verfilmd.
